The main themes of my pieces draw upon and revolve around the Naples culture and environment I was raised in. They include farms, trout streams, gardens and fruit trees, grange halls, church picnics, tractors, music—especially accordion, piano, and harmonica players.
There were many people with great dispositions who filled me with encouragement and brought the fullness of life to me. I'm honored and pleased to share these memories with Naples natives and newcomers.
I’m lucky to have lived the South for a few years, where I taught and got my Master’s Degree at the University of North Carolina. I also lived in Israel for four years, where I was able to travel and be inspired by communities in the Middle East and Europe. In both places I interpreted universal themes through different cultures. My work in Israel includes Holy sites, farms, markets, and sheep herders. It was thrilling to see first-hand everything I learned as a kid in Sunday School, and to be able to interpret it through my art.
