While living in Connecticut during the 1970's, I built a few stained glass windows and became fascinated with color, light and design.

I kept my day job as a carpenter with my uncle, a building contractor, but in the back of my mind, I was asking "how does color get into stained glass and how is it made?"

While living in Miami in 1973, I worked for a lampworker making small glass animals which whet my appetite even more to learn about molten glass, expecailly furnace glass.  Looking for a course in glassblowing at the local library, I found the Naples Mill School of Arts and Crafts in Naples, NY.  After taking an exhilarating beginners class, I moved to Naples and enrolled in a spring class concentrating on glassblowing.  In 1976, I was offered an apprentice glassblowing job with Bill Glasner of Victor and learned how to make tight shapes and firing in glass.

For financial reasons, I returned to carpentry and glassblwoing sat on the back burner for a few years.  Eventually, I built a glass studio in Middlesex, NY in 1995 to reinforce my skills.  When Corning Glass Museum built a glassblowing facility, I took hot glass courses with Gianni Toso and Bill Gudenrath.  I also blew larger glass pieces at Hands On Glass Studio in Corning, NY and helped proprietor Rodi Rovner develop a state-of-the-art facility.

Recently my creative energy has been steering towards metal sculpture and the possibilities of glass/ metal combination.  The whimsical metal creatures I create are pleasant enough, but always have a mischievous, sometimes social message.

My glasswork is always evolving whether blown forms or simple rondels.  Marketing my work at local galleries, quality craft shows and art trail sales help pay the bills.
